The history of Albanian cinematography begins with the construction of Kinostudio “Shqiperia e Re” in 1947. This Albanian film production facility, the largest in the country, managed to produce around 700 films and documentaries. Kinostudio was closed in 1992 and was replaced by Albafilm, which closed its doors in 1996 to never open them again. During the years 1952-1957, the first cinema theatres were built in Tirana, such as “Agimi”, “Dajti”, “17 Nëntori”, “Partizani”, “Republika”, “Ali Demi”, etc.
